About The Show:
Since it's founding on May 15, 1905, Las Vegas has gone from being a small railway stop in the middle of the Mojave Desert to a glittering oasis of gambling, shopping, fine dining, and entertainment welcoming tens of millions of visitors from around the world every year.
Through its relatively short history, the city has been witness to over a century's worth of murder, robberies, arson and mayhem.
In collaboration with Mayhem In The Desert, Sin City Stories: Vegas True Crime goes on a deep dive and takes you far beyond the headlines of the tales you're familiar with and brings you the never-before-heard stories that helped to shape the history of Las Vegas.
About The Host/Producer:
Jeff Walker hails from Calgary, AB, Canada but as a frequent visitor to Las Vegas, he considers Vegas to be his second home. In the time he's been going to the city, he's become friends with many of the local residents who are involved in the entertainment & hospitality industries and has gotten to know the city extremely well, exploring both on and off "the strip". Jeff is also fascinated with Las Vegas history.
Jeff spent close to 20 years in the terrestrial radio business, working in both medium & major markets across Canada including Winnipeg, Vancouver, Regina, Edmonton & Calgary. He's done everything from hanging banner & running cables to hosting a major market Afternoon Drive show & managing the Music Department. In January of 2015, Jeff found himself out of the broadcast business, so he made the jump into podcasting & online radio.
In addition to hosting Sin City Stories, Jeff is the Owner & Chief Content Creator for Walker New Media
About The Writers/Researchers:
Meagan & Anthony Smith are born-and-raised Las Vegans who grew up listening to their relatives recount the famous crimes that helped define the city, as well as the influence of organized crime they witnessed during their day-to-day lives during the 1960's & 1970's.
Meagan & Anthony, who are also long-time true crime fans, decided to take their passion for their hometown's history and use it to create a website to tell the tales of the darker side of Sin City, exploring how these often-forgotten stories shaped the legacy of Las Vegas. So, in October 2019, Mayhem In The Desert was born.
Using resources from the Las Vegas-Clark County Library District, UNLV Digital Collection, and the Las Vegas Historical Society, Meagan & Anthony have been able to compile some of the most in-depth stories about the more sordid side of Las Vegas's past.
When not researching and writing for Mayhem In The Desert, Meagan works on varied art projects in the Las Vegas area and Anthony works as an attorney.
